This week let’s look at God-Honoring Excellence, the fifth Foundational Commitment of Veritas Academy. God-Honoring Excellence: We are dedicated to teaching and learning with excellence as unto the Lord. We believe that all instruction must encourage students to love and honor God through their academic endeavors. God commands us to love Him with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. Students must be challenged at all levels to do quality academic work “heartily, as unto the Lord” because God is worthy of their best. We employ gifted teachers who possess a passion for learning, a passion for teaching, and a passion for Christ. We want our students to possess a love of learning and be well equipped for their future callings.
Veritas strives to apply Colossians 3:17 and 3:23, Philippians 1:10, Ephesians 4:1 and many other Scriptures to our grammar lessons, spelling tests, algebra problems, and history papers. We want our students to “do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus” even when they are memorizing history timelines. We desire that they “work heartily as for the Lord” on their science projects. The goal for them is to “approve what is excellent” as they read classic literature. And to daily “walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which [they] have been called” in all their studies. This is a high ideal for which we need daily measures of grace to fulfill. It is a lofty commitment, but it is our prayer that God would so work in us, students and teachers, to make it a reality at Veritas Academy.
