As Thanksgiving approaches next week, many of us are anticipating a blessed time with family and loved ones. Whether traveling or staying close to home, I hope that we will all be reminded of God’s goodness and faithfulness, and the innumerable provisions, protections, and promises for which to thank Him.

I have always loved the simplicity of the three words at the end of Colossians 3:15, AND BE THANKFUL. These are words we could attach to many things we do and speak. Worship the Lord in church this Sunday – And be thankful. Love your family over Thanksgiving Break – And be thankful. Rake the leaves on your lawn – And be thankful. Do the laundry and fold the towels – And be thankful. And be thankful. – It’s always a good conclusion to every conversation and every endeavor.

“And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.” ~ Colossians 3:15-16
