In this post, Two Habits of Successful Parents, Tim Challies notes that most young parents are far too reluctant to seek help from older and wiser parents. Every parent has blind spots and it often takes insight and feedback from another parent to help us adjust and see the right path forward as we raise our children. The two habits are:
1) find families who have successfully raised children to adulthood, then ask them to tell you how they did it.
2) find families who have successfully raised children to adulthood, then invite them to tell you what they observe in your children and in your parenting.
This demands humility, but it is such wise counsel. I encourage you to read this very practical article and follow its guidance.
