I want to direct you to a podcast about classical education. Susan Wise Bauer was recently interviewed by The Art of Manliness website. She has published an updated and expanded edition of The Well-Educated Mind: A Guide to the Classical Education You Never Had. This book is an excellent guide for parents who wish to personally get up to speed with classical education. If you feel like a dunce when your 7th grader comes home talking about Homer, this is the book for you. If you missed out on a classical education growing up, and wonder if it still possible to get one even though you’re finished with school, then listen to the podcast and read the book. In the podcast, The Classical Education You Never Had, Bauer defines classical education, discusses its tremendous benefits, and speaks to how adults can enjoy reading many of the classic books that their students read in classical programs. This is an excellent podcast. It ought to be required listening for all Veritas parents. Please listen to it and read the book.
